The project
A sail rising over the marina
VELA takes its name from the Latin word for sail, and the tower looks the part: curved white terraces stacked 150 metres above Marasi Bay, with yachts moored at its foot and the Burj Khalifa across the water.
Foster + Partners drew the building and Gilles & Boissier did the interiors. There are just 38 homes, from three-bedroom residences to penthouses and a three-floor Sky Palace, some with double-height living rooms and private terrace pools.
Dorchester Collection runs the building. A doorman, porter and valet meet you on arrival, and housekeeping, dining at home and bookings are there whenever you want them.
